Everyone is just one bad day away from being possessed.
When sixteen-year-old Henry Wheeler becomes host to an eidolon, a mysterious, otherworldly being, he’s thrust into a secret organization called the ECF, or Eidolon Containment Facility. Forced to leave his family behind, he must learn to control his newly acquired destructive powers to help the ECF contain and suppress knowledge of eidolons throughout the modern world. If he can’t, he risks losing himself to his volatile companion and endangering everyone around him.As Henry becomes a host, sixteen-year-old high schooler Penny Ridinger moves to his rural hometown of Grendell, Illinois with her transient family. She’s accompanied by her imaginary friend Hop, a voice in her head that she can’t get to go away. When she discovers a mysterious stone on the outskirts of town, Hop begins to change in ways that suggest he’s more than just a figment of her imagination. She only hopes she can keep him a secret from her prying family, who insist she behave as normal as possible.If both Henry and Penny hope to discover the mysteries of the eidolons, they first must confront the ones surrounding their families. Understanding where they came from may reveal whether or not the ECF can truly be trusted.
